There’s been recently some troubles between french anti-doping authority and Lance Armstrong. Lots of comments were made on US websites and forums about “the French” trying to ban Lance from running the TdF in 2009.
I just want to say here that the issue is not between the French and LA, but between the french anti-doping authority and LA. This is quite a difference.
“Doping or not doping” that has been the cycling (should i say sport) question for a long time now (remember Jacques Anquetil, Charly Gaul, Tom Simpson…?) but i also like to remember that pro cyclists are great champions, and Lance Armstrong was one of the greatest along with Merckx, Anquetil, Bobet, Poulidor, Hinault, Lemond, etc.
There is one recent moment in the TdF history that proved – if it was still needed – that cycling is an epic sport: it is the famous descent into Gap during the 9th stage of the 2003 TdF. M. Armstrong did quite a good job at it.
You should watch the whole video but the epic/dramatic/heroic (?) part starts at 2:24mn.
